Stud Service

My family has been breeding Working Border Collies for more than 250 years that we can trace back on paper, always from the idea that we need to be producing the very best healthy long lived working dogs with outstanding temperaments.  We strongly believe in breeding for the best quality offspring and improving with each generation.  The breeding decisions we make today are going to greatly affect the future of the Breed tomorrow, and for centuries to come.  Our breeding program consists of superior quality Sires to help improve your breeding program.  The future of this industry is in the breeder's hands.

Looking towards the future , we have carefully selected this incredible group of Border Collie dogs for our breeding program, from both the U. K. and North America and thoroughly screened them for hip, eye and general health issues.  We know that the future of Working Border Collies will be focused upon the true breed characteristics of ‘brains before beauty', health, temperament, and working abilities and so we have, like our family before us, worked towards that vision.  Our dogs are daily called upon to manage our more than 100 head of Shetland Sheep and Angora Goats on our 67 A working farm in western Wisconsin .

You may not have sheep, cattle, geese or ducks in your backyard like we do, but no matter what your requirements of your Border Collie, be they herding, agility, law enforcement, flyball, tracking, lead sled dog, obedience and as a treasured companion you will appreciate the brains, temperament and soundness of a Border Collie bred for herding.

We provide boarding for your visiting ladies at $10 per day.

Imported Shep
ISDS 231370
Owned by Barbara J. Johnson, River Falls , Wisconsin .

Shep is a Wiston Cap type Border Collie and indeed shows a strong resemblance to Cap in both looks and working style. A smooth and stylish herder Shep is equally competent on sheep, cattle, goats, and geese. He is a strong presence on stock with a good clean grip if called for. His off spring are a testament to their sire's winning ways both on and off stock and are already making a name for themselves on the trial field.

Trial successes: Several Open placings in the UK , Shep was the South Wales Regional Champion before emigrating to the US and a qualifier for the Welsh National Trials. He has not been trialed in this country but rather has been busy keeping our own flock of nearly 100 registered Shetland Sheep and 25 Angora goats in hand

Detailed pedigree available on request to serious inquiries.

Imported Roy
ISDS 250932
Owned by Barbara J. Johnson, River Falls , Wisconsin .

Imported Roy was fully trained by the famous Aled Owen in Wales before I brought him to America . He is a smooth coat, large boned boy with boundless energy, lightening fast speed and a quick obedient manner. He would be best described as an old fashioned shepherd's dog - incredibly powerful and competent in the field, an extraordinarily talented hill dog, quiet and biddable, but not clingy when not working.

Ancestry: On his sire's side Roy goes back to such outstanding dogs as J. E. Lightfoot's Welsh National Champion Black 144065, twice English National Champion R. P. Dean's Nip, twice English National Driving Champion T.W. Longton's Tweed and T. W. Longton's International Supreme Champion Bess among many other accomplished dogs. On his dam's side of the pedigree he goes back to Tot Longton's International Supreme Brace Champion Rob, Tot Longton's International Supreme Brace Champion Lad, Reserve International Supreme Champion Tot Longton's Gyp and L. Evan's International Supreme Champion Bosworth's Coon to name but a few.

Health: hips OFA excellent, eyes clear, Brucellosis negative

Potential bitches: Working, hips OFA, eyes clear, and Brucellosis negative.

Stud Fee: $650 (or pick of litter from approved bitch) Live pup guarantee.

Kyle
ABCA 146296
Owned by Barbara J. Johnson, River Falls , Wisconsin .

Kyle works sheep, cattle and goats. Kyle has plenty of push, will bite cleanly if asked but is not grippy, natural outrunner and good balance. Kyle has quiet power and just the right amount of eye. He is one of the most agile dogs I have had, thinking nothing of running up the hay stack to walk across the rafters in the winter lambing barn so that he can see everything without alarming the ewes. Kyle is a black and white smooth coat. His son Kirk is a featured dog of GooseRunners.com while Kyle's daughters are making names for themselves on the trial field.

Ancestry: Kyle's sire was my Imported Coed Bill, a son of Aled Owen's Ben, 1985 Welsh National and Farmer's Champion, 1987 Welsh National Driving Champion, who was himself the sire of at least five national or international champions or team members. On his dam's side he goes back to the International driving champion Bathgate's Vic and counts Sara Johnson's Imported Jen as his grand dam and Karen Thomason's Imported Bursett Lad, (the sire of Dodie Green's National Nursery Champion Cord) is Kyle's grand sire.

Health: hips OFA excellent, eyes clear, Brucellosis negative

Potential bitches: Working, hips OFA, eyes clear, and Brucellosis negative

Stud Fee: $450 (or pick of litter from approved bitch) Live pup guarantee.
